What is a Content Management System(CMS)?

A CMS or “Content Management System” allows a website owner to easily manage online content without having to know any back-end coding. Using a CMS can reduce the costs associated with maintaining a website and give the owner of the site complete control of what kind of content he or she wants. They’re many different types of CMS systems out there such as Joomla, Drupal, and MODx and of course WordPress. These four examples are by no means a complete list.

With a CMS system you can support the creation, management and publishing of you website content without the need for a professional. The benefits of using such a system can greatly benefit a company or small business. For example:

  1. Reduce the need for training
  2. Greatly reduces the time-to-publish content
  3. Greater security
  4. Ability to easily track site traffic
  5. Low website operating costs
  6. Easily create dynamic content
  7. Organizes files
  8. The design of the site cannot be broken by the content author
  9. More than one person can update pages
